10 Ghanaian players who won trophies with their clubs in 2023/24 season

As most of the major European leagues concluded over the weekend, Ghanaian players were in the spotlight, helping their clubs clinch silverware.

While some notable Black Stars and other Ghanaian talents celebrated triumphs, there were also a few disappointments.

3news.com highlights the players who succeeded and the significant roles they played in their teams’ achievements.

Baba Rahman – PAOK

Ghana defender Baba Rahman played a crucial role in PAOK’s triumph in the Greek Super League title on Sunday. The Greek giants secured a 2-1 victory over Aris to clinch the championship, with Rahman’s contributions being pivotal throughout the season.

Rahman made eight goal contributions this season for PAOK, scoring five goals and providing three assists in 28 games.

His impressive form can be attributed to his decision to excuse himself from national duty, allowing him to focus fully on his recovery and performance.

Rahman missed Ghana’s disappointing exit at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, choosing instead to concentrate on regaining his top form. This decision clearly paid off, as evidenced by his significant contributions to PAOK’s success.

Elisha Owusu and Gideon Mensah – Auxerre

After suffering relegation from the top flight to French Ligue II last season, Auxerre have made a remarkable comeback by clinching the title and securing promotion to Ligue 1.

Ghanaian duo Gideon Mensah and Elisha Owusu played crucial roles in realising this dream.

As his loan spell draws to a close this summer, there have been discussions indicating Leicester City’s interest in securing a permanent deal for the Ghanaian talent. Issahaku’s impressive performances have caught the eye of manager Enzo Maresca, further boosting the likelihood of a potential permanent move.

David Abagna, Razak Abalora and Seidu Basit – Petrocub

Ghanaian midfielder David Abagna, goalkeeper Razak Abalora, and forward Seidu Basit achieved a historic milestone by clinching the Moldovan Super Liga title with CS Petrocub.

This accomplishment is particularly remarkable as it ends the long-standing dominance of Sheriff Tiraspol, who had won the title eight consecutive times and 20 times in the last 22 editions.

These players enjoyed the moments in the season and will be hoping it puts them in the spotlight for international representation while hoping for a better performance the following season
