A former Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Adomako Baafi, has accused the main Opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC) of not being interested in engaging in intellectual debates.
Speaking on Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Wednesday, 13 March 2024, Mr Baafi said he is shocked a party like NDC which has never been interested in intellectual discourse has suddenly been touting the educational credentials of their 2024 running mate, Prof Jane Opoku-Agyemang.
According to him, credit should be given to the President, Nana Akufo-Addo for championing free education which has helped the NDC realised the importance of obtaining knowledge.
“We should give credit to the NPP, free SHS has made us realise learning is good…at least the NDC is now seeing the benefit of education and has started touting credentials…,” he said.
To him, the NPP which was once said to be a ‘book long’ party for having professors in the party has shown the way by helping the NDC become interested in education.
He therefore welcomed the NDC to the table of intellectuals by urging them to stop the ‘unnecessary propaganda’ and rather focus on bringing out facts during debates.
“I hear them talking about the 50-page CV of Jane Opoku-Agyemang, that is good because at least they are bringing something intellectual to the table but they should know that the strength of the CV alone will not win elections for them…,” he said.
