Ghanaian athletes showcased impressive performances on the opening day of athletics at the ongoing 2023 African Games in Accra.
Hosted at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, Monday’s events saw Benjamin Azamati and Barnabas Aggerh securing qualification to the men’s 100m final slated for Tuesday night. Additionally, Alex Amankwah advanced to the men’s 800m semifinals after securing second place in his heat.
The success extended to the women’s events as well, with Mary Boakye achieving a surprising qualification to the final of the women’s 100m. Boakye is determined to better her performance from the semifinals and contend for a medal.
