RTU apologises for fielding unregistered players against Dreams FC

Real Tamale United (RTU) have apologised to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and their supporters following the revelation that the club used unregistered players in their recent league match against Dreams FC.

RTU lost the match 8-1, but the primary concern has been the club’s decision to play ineligible players due to unpaid salaries for six months.

The club’s management selected Division Two players instead of their registered squad for the fixture. In response, the GFA has charged RTU, while Dreams FC filed a protest.

In a statement addressing the issue, RTU admitted to the error: “The above action was never deliberate and was never intended to ridicule our beautiful game.”

“The club has gone through some difficult moments this year, a situation that is culminating in our exit from the Premier League.”

“The club, however, courts for mercy and sympathy from the general public and the GFA as we strive to reorganise and build a team that all of us will be proud of. We express our regret again and that this will never happen again. The club is sorry.”

RTU face Great Olympics on Sunday in the final matchday of the season.
