Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey has officially completed his transfer to Rwandan Premier League team Armée Patriotique Rwandaise Football Club (APR FC).
The 27-year-old was unveiled on Friday after departing from the Porcupine Warriors just a few days earlier.
Lamptey, who had only two months remaining on his contract with Kotoko, agreed to an early termination. The Ghanaian club is set to receive $150,000 as a transfer fee for the midfielder. Lamptey has signed a two-year deal with APR FC ahead of the upcoming season.
In the 2023/24 season, Lamptey made 17 appearances for Asante Kotoko, contributing five assists.
Despite the club’s sixth-place finish in the Ghana Premier League, Lamptey was instrumental in improving the team’s performance in the latter part of the season. His impressive form earned him a spot in the final Black Stars squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

Although Lamptey played a key role in Kotoko’s late-season revival, he chose not to renew his contract with the Kumasi-based club. He will now continue his career in Rwanda, aiming to make a significant impact with APR FC.
This transfer is part of a broader restructuring effort by Asante Kotoko, who have offloaded more than 20 players ahead of the new season as they aim to build a squad capable of competing for titles.
Lamptey’s move marks a new chapter in his career, and he will be looking to leverage his experience and skills to succeed in the Rwandan Premier League.
