The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed the official draw procedures for the upcoming qualifiers of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025.

Key Points:

  • The draw takes place on July 4th, 2024, in Johannesburg, South Africa.
  • 48 African nations will participate to qualify for the tournament.
  • Teams have been divided into four pots based on the latest FIFA rankings (June 20th, 2024).
  • Twelve groups (A-L) of four teams each will be formed through the draw.
  • The top two teams from each group, except the one containing host Morocco, qualify for the final tournament.
  • If Morocco finishes first, second, or third in their group, they automatically qualify alongside the group winners (second or first place, respectively).

Draw Procedure:

  • The first ball will be drawn from Pot 4 and will go to position A4.
  • The procedure will be repeated for the remaining teams of Pot 4 who will go to positions B4, C4, D4, E4, F4, G4, H4, I4, J4, K4 & L4  according to the draw order.
  • The same procedure as above will be repeated for Pot 3, Pot 2 and finally Pot 1.

With the draw procedures set, anticipation builds for the July 4th event which will determine the path to the 2025 AFCON.
