Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson has posted on Instagram about Enzo Fernandez which has been perceived as a sign of support for the midfielder currently under fire after posting a video that included a chant described as “racist and discriminatory” towards black French players.
Fernandez is under investigation by both Chelsea and FIFA.
In his Instagram post, Jackson, who hails from Senegal, shared a video of Fernandez playing with a small black child in a Chelsea shirt. The post also included an emoji of a black fist, a white fist, and a love heart, along with an image of Jackson, Fernandez, and Marc Cucurella sitting together in training.

This perceived show of solidarity comes after Chelsea teammate and France international Wesley Fofana condemned the video, calling it “uninhibited racism.”
Fernandez has apologised for the video, which was taken during Argentina’s Copa America celebrations.
The chants in question are believed to target French footballers of different races, reflecting ongoing tensions between the two nations on the football pitch.
France and Argentina have a recent history of competitive encounters, with France defeating Argentina in the round of 16 at the 2018 World Cup en route to winning the tournament. Argentina exacted revenge in the 2022 World Cup final, triumphing over France on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw over 120 minutes to claim their third World Cup trophy.

As Chelsea begin pre-season training for the upcoming season, Fernandez is expected to join the team later, following his international duties.
The incident has sparked widespread backlash, and the outcomes of the disciplinary proceedings could have significant implications for Fernandez and Chelsea as they prepare for the new season.
