Ghana will make its first appearance at the 2024 Olympic Games on Tuesday, July 30, with swimmer Harry Stacey set to compete in the men’s 100m freestyle event.

This marks Stacey’s first-ever appearance at the Olympics, highlighting a significant milestone for Ghanaian athletes.

Stacey will take to the pool at 9:27 GMT in Heat 4 of the competition. As Ghana’s top-ranked swimmer, having excelled at the African Games, Stacey qualified through a wildcard slot, adding a historic dimension to his participation.

“I’m so excited and honestly I can’t wait. I feel amazing,” Stacey said ahead of the race. “Competitors don’t scare me. I know my place. I’m trying to get faster.

“Calm. I’m used to water. Water knows me and I know water. We are best friends. Once I start racing, I’m happy.”
