Ilkay Gündoğan is reportedly exploring options to leave Barcelona this summer after just one season with the club.
Despite being under contract for two more years, Barcelona have informed the 33-year-old midfielder that they will not block a move if he finds a suitable offer.
Interest in Gündoğan has emerged from clubs in England, including his former club Manchester City, Spain, and Saudi Arabia.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, who previously coached Gündoğan with Germany, expressed his desire to retain the player but admitted the club’s financial challenges.
Gündoğan missed Barcelona’s season opener against Valencia due to a concussion, further fueling speculation about his future.
Meanwhile, Gündoğan has announced his retirement from international football after earning 82 caps for Germany. Reflecting on his decision, he cited “tiredness” and the increasing demands of club and international football.
Despite Barcelona’s financial constraints, Flick remains hopeful that Gündoğan will stay with the club.
