A National Communication team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Owusu Banahene has described the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as someone who lacks ‘credibility.’
According to Banahene, Dr. Bawumia takes credit for successes but shifts blame onto President Nana Akufo-Addo, claiming that he is not responsible for the budget.
Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS), Banahene argued that Dr. Bawumia’s promises for the future cannot be trusted adding that the Vice President has so far demonstrated that he lacks the ability to fulfill his promises.
Banahene also highlighted the worsening economic situation, noting that under former President John Mahama, the debt-to-GDP ratio was 55.6%, but it has now ballooned to 103%.
He expressed concern that the government is unable to repay borrowed funds and can no longer secure additional loans.
He added, “We left the economy with the cedi trading at 3.8 to the dollar, but now it’s at 16 cedis. Tell me, isn’t 3.8 better than 16?”
