Chelsea have completed the signing of goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal for £20.7 million on a seven-year contract.
The 22-year-old Dane joins the Blues after making 37 appearances for Villarreal last season, where he established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
“This move is a dream come true,” Jorgensen said. “I am very excited to have signed for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world. I can’t wait to get to know everyone and to start playing with all my new team-mates.”
Jorgensen is set to compete for the number-one spot with Robert Sanchez, who was Chelsea’s first choice last season until injuries allowed Serbia’s Dorde Petrović to take over. Kepa Arizabalaga remains a Chelsea goalkeeper as well following his loan spell at Real Madrid.
Born in Sweden but representing Denmark Under-21s, Jorgensen joined Villarreal’s youth system at age 15 and made his senior debut for the B side in October 2020. He made his La Liga debut in January 2023.

Jorgensen has joined Chelsea’s pre-season tour in the United States and may feature in upcoming matches against Club America, Manchester City, or Real Madrid.
Chelsea kick off their Premier League campaign at home to Manchester City on Sunday, August 18.
