Chelsea attacker Cole Palmer has been named the Young Player of the Year for the 2023/24 Premier League season.

With one more game to end the season, the 22-year-old has scored 22 goals and assisted 10 times in 32 games.

He beat off competition from Manchester City duo Erling Haaland and Phil Foden among others.

Despite it being his first season at the Blues, the England international has shone throughout the season even in the London side’s struggles.

His goal-scoring prowess has continued unabated. He has emerged as a pivotal figure in Chelsea’s late-season revival, finding the net twice in their past three matches. This has significantly bolstered Pochettino’s squad’s bid for a European berth next season.

His debut season has since him bagged a number of accolades including surpassing Eden Hazard’s personal best in goal contributions in a single season.

The Blues will trade tackles with Bournemouth on Sunday in their final game of the season.

Chelsea could even finish fifth should they secure a win and Tottenham Hotspur lose to Sheffield United.

Meanwhile, Palmer is also in contention for the overall Premier League Player of the Year award which he would battle it out with similar competitors.
