Dreams FC coach Karim Zito attributes injuries as a significant factor in his team’s unexpected exit from the MTN FA Cup.

The defending champions suffered a shocking defeat to Bofoakwa Tano in the semi-final, succumbing to a 2-1 loss after extra time.

Dreams, who clinched the trophy last season and showcased an impressive performance in the CAF Confederation Cup by reaching the semi-finals, were anticipated to secure at least another final berth but were thwarted by a determined Bofoakwa Tano in Sogakope.

Dreams found themselves trailing at halftime due to Bofoakwa’s forward, Dacosta Aboagye’s goal, but they managed to equalise with a well-converted penalty by Emmanuel Agyei.

However, as the match extended into extra time, Bofoakwa Tano’s defender, Bright Boakye Kyereh, swiftly scored a decisive goal just two minutes into the additional period to seal the victory.

Reflecting on the game, Zito remarked, “I have achieved [a lot this season] because sometimes when you defend your title you must be out before [this stage]. I combine three [competitions], playing at the same time and with these same players. Now injuries have affected me seriously but that is no excuse. That is why I said we did our best.”

Dreams FC will now shift their focus to the league, aiming to clear their outstanding matches and climb out of the relegation zone.
