
The eliminators of Dreams FC in the CAF Confederation Cup, Zamalek, have triumphed by defeating Moroccan side RS Berkane in the final.
The White Knights emerged victorious in the two-legged encounter, relying on the away goal rule to secure their win.
Ahmed Hamdi’s 23rd-minute strike in the second leg proved decisive, following a 2-1 loss in the first leg. The narrow 1-0 victory in Cairo ensured a 2-2 aggregate score, with Zamalek’s away goal in the first leg being the crucial tiebreaker.
RS Berkane finished the match with 10 men after defender Hamza El Moussaoui was sent off during added time.
Sunday’s victory marked Zamalek’s second success in the CAF Confederation Cup. They previously won the title in 2019, beating Berkane on penalties after a 1-1 aggregate draw, showcasing their consistency against their North African counterparts.4

The Egyptian giants reached this stage after overcoming Ghana’s Dreams FC in the semi-finals. Despite a commendable debut season, Dreams FC managed only a goalless draw in Egypt before succumbing to a 3-0 defeat in the return leg.
Zamalek’s experience in African inter-club competitions has once again proven fruitful, as they annex the Confederation Cup title for the second time in their history.
Meanwhile, Egypt has the opportunity to complete a double in African club competitions, with Zamalek’s arch-rivals Al Ahly hosting Tunisia’s Esperance in the CAF Champions League final second leg on Saturday. The first leg in Tunis ended goalless, setting up an exciting conclusion to the tournament.
