Chairperson for Electoral Commission of Ghana, Jean Adukwei Mensah, has affirmed that, the 19th December 2023 District Assembly Elections will take place without indelible ink being applied to the fingers of voters.
According to her, indelible the ink, and the which had used for several years in identifying persons who have voted, has been replaced by the biometrics technology.
Speaking at a news conference Monday, December 18, to update the media on preparations made ahead of Tuesday’s polls, but Mrs. Mensah explained that, the deployment of the biometrics technology, which captures and recognises persons with facial features and finger prints, makes it difficult for someone to vote multiple times in the upcoming district level elections.

According to her, “once you have been verified with the biometrics device, the system captures it which makes difficult for you to vote again.”
She again emphasised: “with the biometrics inplace nobody can do multiple registration or voting because, the system will flush out your features.”
