Vice Chairman of the Ashanti Regional NPP Constituency Chairmen Caucus and NPP Constituency Chairman for Asante Akyem North, Edward Asadu, has expressed strong confidence in Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s selection as the running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
In an interview with Accra based Angel Tv, Edward Asadu highlighted NAPO’s extensive support base within the party, pointing to his tenure as Education and Energy Minister as evidence of his competence.
“As Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh will significantly enhance the NPP’s prospects of retaining power,” Asadu emphasized. He called on all NPP members to rally behind the Bawumia-Napo ticket, stressing its potential to break the 8-year political cycle.

The National Council of the New Patriotic Party has officially endorsed the decision of flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to select Energy Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate for the upcoming elections. This endorsement came after thorough discussions with the National Executive Council and the National Steering Committee earlier in the week.
Opoku Prempeh, widely known as NAPO, currently serves as the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South and previously held the position of Education Minister. His nomination is seen as a strategic move by Bawumia to solidify support within the party and across the nation, particularly in the pivotal Ashanti region.
