Ghanaian teenage prodigy Fatawu Ganiwu is currently on trial at Chelsea FC, where he has been invited to showcase his talents with the club’s youth teams.

The 16-year-old midfielder is training with both the Chelsea under-18 and under-21 squads as the English club evaluates his potential.

Fatawu has already made an impression during his trial, notably in a recent friendly match between Chelsea U18 and Sheffield United, which ended in a 1-1 draw. His performance in this game, along with upcoming fixtures for both junior teams, will play a crucial role in determining his future with the club.

The young Ghanaian’s trial at Chelsea follows previous experiences with other prominent clubs. He has had trials with RC Lens and RB Leipzig, but Chelsea, having observed his progress over time, have opted to give him a more detailed evaluation.

Currently, Fatawu Ganiwu is part of AS Koppan in Ghana, but he first gained significant attention after a standout performance with Red Bull Salzburg’s youth team in Brazil.

His exceptional talent was further demonstrated at the UEFA Youth Championship in Serbia earlier this year. As a key player for the Ghana U16 team, Fatawu played a pivotal role in leading the Black Starlets to victory, with notable wins against Serbia, Spain, and Switzerland.

Despite his impressive performances, negotiations between Ganiwu’s management agency, Louis Bell Fa Sport, and potential suitors have yet to finalise terms according to Londonworld.

Chelsea’s interest aligns with their recent strategy of scouting and acquiring young global talents, reflecting the club’s commitment to building a strong future.

Should his trial at Chelsea prove successful, Fatawu Ganiwu is expected to join Chelsea’s partner club, Strasbourg, in France, where he could continue his development in a competitive environment.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are continuing their pre-season preparations with a scheduled match against Mexican side Club America later on Wednesday.
