The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) says Sundays blackout in some parts of the country this morning was the result of faulty equipment at its Mallam substation in Accra.
GRIDCo in a statement explained signed by Corporate Affairs head, Dzifa Bampoe, that the fault on the equipment which occurred at 20:38h, caused the outage to some customers in western part of Accra, Winnebago in the Vent Region and the Western Region capital, Takoradi.
“Our engineers have quickly isolated the faulted equipment for further investigation. Restoration of supply to affected customers started immediately.
“As at 22:30h, power supply to most of the affected customers had been restored”, it said.
It added: “For areas without power supply, engineers are working tirelessly to restore power once the faulted equipment is fixed.”
