The Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Henry Asante Twum, has called on fans to temper their expectations of the Black Stars, despite their recent victories in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana secured consecutive victories for the first time in nine months with a 2-1 win against Mali and a thrilling 4-3 victory over Central African Republic in Bamako and Kumasi, respectively.
The results have instilled confidence in the Ghanaian people with many tipping coach Otto Addo to succeed.
Asante Twum acknowledged the team’s positive start but cautioned against expecting victory in every game.
“We have started on a very positive note, and we pray for more, but in the course of this journey, I don’t want to believe that Ghana will win every game,” said the Communications Director to Joy Sports. “There will be days where we will not play well and win, and there will be days where we will play well and still not win.
“I am the coach, and I would decide.”

“There will be disappointments and there will be lots of pain in the course of this journey, but in all of that, we believe in the competence of the entire backroom staff, which is why we assembled them, and we are looking ahead to our glory days.”
These wins have propelled the Black Stars to second place in Group I, trailing Comoros only on goal difference. Addo’s second tenure as head coach has shown promise, with two wins, one draw, and one loss in his first four matches.
Looking ahead, Ghana will resume their World Cup qualifiers next year, facing Chad and Madagascar in their upcoming matches.
