Ghanaians have been full of praise for the Black Stars after their impressive 2-1 win over Mali in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Thursday, June 6.
Ghana went behind right before halftime and looked far from their best level for most parts of the first half.
However, there were positives in the second 45 minutes, as Ernest Nuamah leaped onto an incredible cross from Abdul Salis Samed to restore parity for the Black Stars.
The show was far from over. The Black Stars found themselves playing well for many good spells of the second half, and Jordan Ayew from the bench pounced on an opportunity in the box from a relentless run from Fatawu Issahaku to grab the winner for Ghana.
Many Ghanaians have expressed their joy on social media after the impressive Black Stars performance, believing their team as back in business.
Prior to this game, the Black Stars had not won a game in 2024 and were without an away win in 11 successive matches.
For Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, he has his first win in his second stint, and his tactical decisions propelled the team to this tremendous position.
Ghana will face the Central African Republic in Kumasi on Monday, June 10, in hopes of clinching the top spot in Group I in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
