Ghana deputy captain Thomas Partey has called on the government to provide good stadiums to enhance the quality of football played by the national team.
Partey made this request while addressing a gathering at the Black Stars’ hotel on Monday, during a visit by Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia.
The Vice President visited the team ahead of their must-win 2026 World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic.
Players, particularly those based in Europe, have frequently expressed disappointment with the quality of pitches in Ghana, and Partey formally conveyed these concerns to the Vice President.
“We are ready. We want to give our best tonight. On behalf of all the players, I have one request: we ask for a good stadium because we want to play better football,” Partey said.

Ghana had a mixed start to their campaign, winning against Madagascar but losing to Comoros. However, their 2-1 comeback win against Mali in Bamako last Thursday revived their chances, lifting the team’s spirits.
The Black Stars are now favourites to take control of the group with a win over the Central African Republic.
Vice President Bawumia reportedly donated GHS500,000 to motivate the team for the home game.
The Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, and GFA President Kurt Okraku accompanied the Vice President during his visit to the team’s hotel.
The match against the Central African Republic is scheduled to kick off at 7 pm local time.
