I am not under pressure to deliver – Joseph Paintsil

Black Stars winger Joseph Paintsil says he does not feel pressured playing for a prestigious club like LA Galaxy in Major League Soccer (MLS).

The five-time MLS champions signed the Black Stars forward from Belgian giants KRC Genk in February as a Designated Player. Since his arrival, Paintsil has made a strong impression, scoring five goals and providing four assists in 14 matches.

Despite the high expectations from fans, Paintsil remains focused and composed, aiming to help LA Galaxy achieve their goals. Speaking about his decision to join the American side, he said:

“When the news came, I was at the AFCON with the national team. I thought it was a great team and a great call for me. I was like, we will see, but in my mind, I knew that’s where I wanted to go,” Paintsil told MLS.

When asked if he feels pressure to deliver for the club, Paintsil responded, “No, I don’t feel pressure. I have such fantastic players around me, so I don’t feel any pressure. The more I put pressure on myself, the more it becomes difficult for me. So I am calm and focused.”

Paintsil has missed recent international assignments due to injury and previously due to immigration issues. However, the pacey winger is determined to make a lasting impact both for LA Galaxy and the Black Stars whenever given the opportunity.

As Paintsil continues to shine in the MLS, fans and pundits alike are optimistic about his contributions to both his club and national team in the future.
