Agbesimah’s departure from Hearts of Oak comes after he publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the club, despite having a year remaining on his contract.
“I’m not happy at Hearts of Oak. I want to leave,” Agbesimah told Happy FM, citing undisclosed internal issues as the reason for his decision.
Prior to the move, Hearts of Oak coach Aboubakar Ouattara emphasised that no player is bigger than the club and would be allowed to leave if they wished.
“Hearts of Oak is bigger than any player,” he told the media.

“If my wife said she doesn’t like me anymore, I’ll open the door for her.” he added emphasising the prestige of the club over individuals.
Kofi Agbesimah was a key player for Hearts of Oak
The 28-year-old joined Hearts of Oak from Bechem United last season and quickly became an integral part of the team. His solid performances and leadership earned him the captaincy in March 2024.
Agbesimah’s move to FC Samartex is a notable one, as the Samreboi-based side prepares for their debut CAF Champions League campaign following their Ghana Premier League triumph.
Hearts of Oak, who narrowly avoided relegation last season, are expected to make significant changes to their squad and strategy. The club had to secure a critical win against Bechem United on the final day to retain their top-flight status.
