Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum has returned to training after recovering from surgery, much to the delight of the team and fans.
Assistant coach David Ocloo had been holding the fort in Ogum’s absence, leading the team to a 2-1 win over Hearts of Oak in the Democracy Cup. Now that Ogum is back, the team is gearing up for the new season, which kicks off on September 6.
Ogum had been out since June when the club announced that he had successfully undergone surgery due to illness. This left fans worried, but the coach’s return has brought a sense of relief and excitement. Ogum was warmly welcomed back by the players, as evidenced by pictures shared by the club on social media.

Heading into his third season with Asante Kotoko, Ogum is looking to win over fans by playing attractive football and securing a trophy. In his first season, he led the team to win the Ghana Premier League in 2022, but his second season was marked by poor results and controversy.
The club have shown their commitment to a strong third season under Ogum by parting ways with 21 players and actively recruiting new talent. Kotoko will face Karela United as they begin their season campaign.
