Leicester City seal permanent deal for winger Fatawu Issahaku

Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is officially a Leicester City player after finalising a permanent transfer.

The 20-year-old expressed his excitement to be back and focused on the upcoming Premier League season.

Following a successful loan spell that helped City secure the Championship title, Leicester City exercised their purchase option from Sporting Lisbon. Issahaku impressed in his first season with the Foxes, contributing seven goals in 43 appearances across all competitions.

“I feel amazing,” Issahaku declared. “It’s good to be back and I’m just focused again for next season. The Premier League is a new challenge and I’m motivated to succeed alongside the team. I can’t wait to see my teammates again, they’re like family now.”

The Ghanaian youngster began his professional career at Steadfast FC before showcasing his talent on loan at Dreams FC. His impressive form caught the eye of Sporting Lisbon, where he made his senior debut and participated in the Champions League.

Issahaku’s journey includes international success. He played a key role in Ghana’s U-20 triumph at the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, earning Player of the Tournament honours.

He’s also made 19 appearances for the senior national team, participating in the 2022 World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations.

Issahaku reunites with his Leicester City teammates as they prepare for the season opener against Tottenham Hotspur on August 19th.
