Two persons were arrested in the Western Region on Thursday, May 9, 2024, for their alleged involvement in registering five minors at Mpohor in the ongoing limited voter registration exercise.
The suspects, a deputy general secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the region and a headmaster of an unnamed school in the area were arrested for the offense.
It followed a tip-off to officials of the Electoral Commission who collaborated with the police to effect the arrest.
They have been arraigned for court today, Friday, May 10.
Election 2024: GES grants SHS students permission to participate in voters’ registration exercise
The limited voter registration exercise commenced on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, and will end on Monday, May 27, 2024. It is ongoing at all district offices of the EC.
The registration exercise is to afford Ghanaians who have attained the age of 18 since the last registration in 2020 and others who were more than 18 years old but for various reasons could not register.
