Mohammed Kudus has expressed his enthusiasm for working under new West Ham United manager Julen Lopetegui, praising the coach’s style of play as a perfect match for his own attacking instincts.
Kudus, who enjoyed a standout debut season with the Hammers after joining from Ajax Amsterdam last summer, thrived under David Moyes’ guidance.
He scored 14 goals across all competitions and was a key player for the team.
However, following a disappointing UEFA Europa League quarter-final exit and a ninth-place finish in the Premier League, Moyes left the club, making way for former Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui.
- I was ready for West Ham challenge, says Mohammed Kudus
“His [Lopetegui’s] style is how I want to play, how I want to attack as a winger and there is a lot of freedom, which allows me to do that. That is the most important thing for me – that I’m allowed to play how I want to. He has different tactics and a different style, but we are all working together to push the Club to the level where we want it to be,” he told West Ham United’s website.
As West Ham gear up for pre-season preparations in America, Kudus is optimistic about the new campaign.
The club is targeting a stronger finish in the Premier League and hopes to build on the attacking freedom and tactical flexibility that Lopetegui brings to the team.
