Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru has voiced his confidence in Vincent Kompany’s ability to succeed as Bayern Munich’s head coach, praising the Belgian’s rapid impact with the German giants.
Kompany’s move to Bayern Munich surprised many after his successful stints at Anderlecht and Burnley, but Ashimeru, who played under him at Anderlecht, isn’t shocked by his former manager’s swift success.
“I’ve always believed in him because he’s one coach that has really learned a lot. And I knew one day he would coach one of the top teams. And now he has it,” Ashimeru said in an exclusive interview with Flashscore.
Under Kompany’s leadership, Bayern have hit an impressive run of form, something that reinforces Ashimeru’s belief. “Everyone can see how the team is now. They’ve won about six games now and I think he knew what he wanted. He’s a good coach overall. I think he will really go far. I’ve always believed in him.”
Reflecting on Kompany’s coaching style, Ashimeru said his hands-on approach and strong connection with players as key strengths. “He’s someone that is always interacting a lot with the players and even sometimes in training he joins and trains with the team. So, I think this one quality he has that will make you as a player want to fight for him, want to kill yourself for him. So, I think with this he will really, really go far.”
