The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has declared Monday, August 5, 2024, a public holiday to commemorate the Founders’ Day, which falls on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

According to a statement issued by the Interior Ministry on Wednesday, July 31, Sunday, August 4, is a statutory public holiday, but since it falls on a Sunday, President Akufo-Addo has declared the said day as an additional public holiday.

The declaration is in accordance with “Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, (Act 601),” parts of the statement said.

The public is hereby informed that Monday, August 5, should be observed as a public holiday throughout the country.
