Morocco advanced to the semi-finals of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with a dominant performance against the USA, securing a 4-0 victory at the Stade de France.
Achraf Hakimi was among the goal scorers as Morocco sent a strong message to their rivals in a one-sided quarter-final. Morocco will now face the winner of the match between Japan and Spain in the last four.
Morocco showcased their skill, defeating the USA with ease at Parc des Princes in Paris on Friday. The team never looked back after Soufiane Rahimi converted a penalty in the 29th minute following a harsh call on Nathan Harriel for fouling Al Ain’s forward.
Ilias Akhomach extended Morocco’s lead with a close-range goal in the 63rd minute, and captain Achraf Hakimi, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain, added a third with a superb finish in the 70th minute.
The USA’s misery continued as VAR ruled Harriel guilty of a handball, leading to a penalty conversion by substitute El Mehdi Maouhoub in added time, completing the rout.
Morocco will now face either Spain or Japan in Marseille on Monday as they chase a historic gold medal in the Olympic Games.
