The Central Region Communication Bureau of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a pressing call for immediate government action to resolve the severe traffic congestion on the Kasoa-Winneba route.
In a statement released on Tuesday 14th May 2024, the NDC condemned the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration for its failure to address the ongoing traffic crisis, labeling it as a glaring example of governmental incompetence.
The NDC described the perpetual gridlock as a significant safety hazard, causing intolerable delays and economic distress to motorists, commuters, and businesses. The party criticized the administration for what it terms as brazen neglect of the Central Region’s populace and those affected by the congestion.
Moreover, the NDC expressed deep disappointment with the Ghana Police Service’s inadequate response to alleviating commuter distress, citing the lack of proactive traffic management strategies as deplorable.

The NDC’s statement demanded urgent intervention from President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia. The party called for the Ministry of Roads and Highways, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, to promptly implement a comprehensive action plan to mitigate the congestion.
Gabriella Tetteh, the Regional Communications Officer for the NDC, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to advocating for the Central Region. She vowed that the NDC would continue to oppose what it sees as the continued affliction imposed by the current administration on the region’s residents.
