The Akyem Oda Constituency of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) will convene on Friday, January 26, 2024, to declare sitting Member of Parliament, Alexander Akwasi Acquah unopposed ahead of the 2024 elections.
This is after the NPP General Secretary, the Justin Kodua Frimpong officially notified the Constituency executives of the disqualification of Dennis Obeng Agyei, who had filed nominations to contest the sitting MP.
Constituency Executive committee in a subsequent release issued on Wednesday, January, 24, 2024, announced a planned Extraordinary Conference on Friday, in accordance with Article 7 clause 31 of the Party’s constitution to affirm the candidature of Mr. Alexander Akwasi Acquah.

This, 2023 the release noted, is “in line with the Public Elections Regulations( C.I 127).”
“For the avoidance of doubt, Article 7 clause 32 of the Party’s constitution state clearly the Delegate for the Extraordinary Delegate Conference, that it shall be the same as the delegate for the constituency Annual Delegate Conference. ie Polling station Executives, Electoral area Coordinators, Constituency Executives Committee, Council of Elders and Patrons,” it added.
The event is scheduled to take place at the conference hall of the Methodist Church in Akyem Oda at 3pm.
