Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey believes the intense competition for places in the team’s midfield will be crucial to their Premier League title aspirations.
The Ghanaian international has returned to full fitness after a season disrupted by injuries and is ready to battle it out with Declan Rice, Jorginho, and Martin Odegaard for a starting spot.
“We have a lot of players in that position,” Partey said. “Jorgi is playing good, I am playing good. Dec is there, Martin (Odegaard) too.
“We also have other players who can come in and make a difference. We have to compete against each other and at the end of the day it is the Mister (Arteta) who decides. With this kind of competition, we can get to the level that we want to be at.”
Partey also reflected on his injury struggles, emphasising his determination to overcome adversity and contribute to the team’s success. The midfielder is focused on maintaining fitness and consistency throughout the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s pre-season tour of the United States has seen the inclusion of 12 academy players, a significant increase compared to the previous year. Partey highlighted the importance of mentoring the young talents and helping them adapt to the demands of first-team football.
The Black Stars deputy captain has been at Arsenal since 2020 with his contract due to expire in 2025.
