Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has emerged as a target for Barcelona as the summer transfer window approaches, with the Ghanaian’s contract set to expire in 2025.

Since joining the Gunners in 2020 on a five-year deal, Partey has been a significant contributor to the London side. However, recent injury setbacks have raised doubts about his future at the club, despite his strong comeback with impressive performances.

Spanish journalist Adrian Sanchez has revealed that Partey is on Barcelona’s list of potential targets, with the cash-strapped Catalan giants eyeing him as an affordable option. With just a year left on his contract, Partey could be open to a move to Barcelona.

Competition in Arsenal’s midfield has intensified, with players like Declan Rice and Jorginho being linked to the club, further fueling speculation about Partey’s potential departure.

In recent seasons, Partey has struggled for fitness, limiting him to just 11 league appearances this term. Despite interest from Barcelona, Serie A outfit Juventus have also been rumoured to be interested in acquiring his services.

While there were rumours linking Partey to Saudi Arabia in the January transfer window, no deal materialised. However, with Arteta and Arsenal sporting director Edu eyeing potential funds for summer transfers, Partey’s departure could be on the cards.

As the summer transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Partey’s future, with Barcelona’s interest adding another dimension to the speculation surrounding the midfielder’s potential move away from Arsenal.

For Barcelona, Xavi’s u-turn on his future means targeting quality player to increase the team’s chances of winning a trophy next season having missed out on the UEFA Champions League following their quarter-final defeat to Paris St-Germain.

The team have all but also given up their chase for the La Liga with Real Madrid a step away from sealing the trophy.
