New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Twifo Ati-Morkwa Constituency, Ebenezer Dwamena and two others have been remanded into Police custody.
The accused persons face charges of conspiracy to defraud by false pretense and false pretenses, contrary to section 131 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).
The Assin Kyekyerwere Circuit Court presided over by Her Ladyship Esp. Sophia Priscila Yeboah’s remand decision is intended to allow time for the Police to forward the case docket to the Attorney-General’s Office for advice.
3News reported that, the accused persons’ lawyers had raised concerns about the circuit court’s jurisdiction, citing the amount involved, which exceeds Gh¢300,000.00.
Background
The case involves allegations that Mr. Ebenezer Dwamena the PC and his accomplices failed to produce a vehicle after receiving payment from a businessman in Twifo Praso.
