General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey has called for an independent and comprehensive audit of the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) kits and Biometric Verification Devices (BVD) of the Electoral Commission (EC) before December.
The initiative, Fiifi Kwetey addressing a press conference in Accra said is because the EC has through its actions and inactions over the period failed to impress the party.
The former Ketu South Member of Parliament (MP) said the NDC was surprised when the news broke this morning that four persons have been arrested and remanded for their roles in the missing of a biometric device at North Tongu in the Volta Region.
This was contrary to the claims by Dr. Bossman Asare, the deputy chair in Charge of Corporate Services that the EC had only lost five laptops which would not impact the integrity of the 2024 elections.
He stated that the EC was being evasive about the matter and was shifting goalposts whenever it was questioned over the missing devices.
He, therefore, demanded answers to questions from the EC regarding the issue regarding the BVR kits and BVD and also asked for independent investigations to restore the confidence of the NDC in the EC.
