Ghana coach Otto Addo is optimistic about the Black Stars’ chances in their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifier against Mali.
Despite a challenging start to 2024, which included a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations campaign, Addo believes his team is well-prepared to secure a crucial victory.
The Black Stars are set to face a formidable Malian side at the Stade du 26 Mars at 19:00 GMT on Thursday. Addo acknowledges the quality of his opponents but is confident in Ghana’s ability to compete.
He revealed that the team has carefully studied Mali’s strengths and weaknesses and developed a robust strategy to outplay their opponents.
“We have observed them well and have a plan in place. Most of their players are from Ligue 1, and we know their style of play. While we can’t reveal our tactics, we are confident in our approach,” said Addo.

“We are ready for the game. The players have understood how we want to play, and even though it’s going to be a tough match away in Mali, we have the quality to secure three points,” he added.

Currently, Ghana sit fifth in Group I, having collected just three points from their first two games. This match is critical for the Black Stars, who aim to turn their fortunes around and move closer to securing a spot in the 2026 World Cup, which the USA, Mexico, and Canada will host.
The Black Stars are keen to redeem themselves after a series of poor performances in 2024. A victory against Mali would not only boost their standings but also restore confidence in the team and its supporters.
