West Ham United have secured the signing of defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United for a fee of £15 million.
The 26-year-old right-back has committed to a seven-year contract with the Hammers.
Wan-Bissaka, who initially left Crystal Palace for Manchester United in a £50 million transfer in 2019, made 190 appearances and scored two goals during his time at Old Trafford.
Wan-Bissaka becomes West Ham’s eighth signing of the summer, joining Jean-Clair Todibo, Crysencio Summerville, Luis Guilherme, Niclas Fullkrug, Wes Foderingham, Max Kilman, and Guido Rodriguez in moving to London Stadium.
In his first comments as a West Ham player, Wan-Bissaka expressed his enthusiasm: “It was a no-brainer for me to join West Ham – I’m excited and happy to be here. I can’t wait to get on the pitch, get to know the players, and push on from there. I see a team that is in it together, that will push each other to win, and a group that has got each other’s backs through thick and thin.”
The London-born defender also shared his excitement about returning to his hometown, describing it as an “amazing feeling.”
Wan-Bissaka was initially signed by Manchester United in 2019 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and remained the first-choice right-back until Solskjaer’s departure in 2021. However, he lost his regular starting position after Erik ten Hag took over in 2022, although he still made 64 appearances over the past two seasons.
